We are a congregation of Lutheran Church, Canada, and have been at our location here in Courtenay for more than sixty years.

As traditional Lutherans, we are focussed on the Bible as the Word of God, with special emphasis on the love that God has shown us through the forgiveness of sins that Jesus made available to all people who receive Him by faith.

Our worship style is traditional, and we use orders of service in our worship in a style that is called “liturgy”, which is cross-cultural and shared by Lutherans around the world.   Liturgy uses quotations from the Bible to aim us toward the teachings of God’s Word and the joy of God’s promises.

Worship Service Times

We meet for worship Sundays at 11:00 am.  Our services are followed by a light luncheon downstairs.

We offer Holy Communion the first and third Sundays each month, as well as special occasions, like Christmas and Easter.

Please be advised that we believe that Holy Communion is a very serious and sacred act which requires participants to understand what Communion means so that they can examine themselves and prepare to receive the Sacrament as a full blessing.  If you have not been taught the Lutheran understanding of what Holy Communion means, please speak to the Pastor before coming forward to the Communion rail.  Also, we believe that Communion is for those are baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith.

Midweek Lenten Services

We join together with other Lutherans, as well as with members of various other Christian churches in observing the season of Lent.  This is the period of six weeks before Easter when we focus on taking responsibility for our sin, and on dedicating our lives to live humbly and graciously as children of God in response to His gifts of forgiveness and love.

Our midweek services are Wednesdays March 5, 12, 19, 26, April 2 and 9, at 11:30 am, followed by a soup and sandwich lunch.

Our church also offers Bible instruction and discussion for people of all ages and backgrounds. Lutheran education
centers around Christ and His message of forgiveness and salvation and we would like to share the power and excitement of God’s love with you!
